How To Take The Perfect Proof Of Placement Photo

When you are accepted onto a placement campaign as a host you are required to upload a proof of placement photo. But what is a proof of placement photo and how should it look? That is what we are going to cover in this blog post, along with some examples to make life easier!

A proof of placement photo is a way for hosts to demonstrate to brands that they have both received and placed the products they were sent.

Brands love to see how their products are being used and presented to guests as it gives them an idea of how the products are placed. Some brands like to reuse the content on their social channels and website.

So how to take the best proof of placement photo, what are the don'ts, how are photos uploaded to the Placer website and should it be posted on your social media channels?

How to take the best photo.

The photo should be a clear representation of how you have placed the product for your guests. Some brands will request the QR code is or is not included but usually it should include the QR code if there is one to be placed.

A great example for the recent Carte Noire campaign:

Here you can clearly see both the product and the QR code in a contextually relevant setting. For this campaign the brand requested the product be placed in the kitchen so this is clearly demonstrating the host has listened to the brief and is giving the placement the best chance of success for the brand.

Here is another example from the Saltee hand sanitiser campaign:

While this photo is a little less contextually relevant the clarity of the product and positioning with the QR is great.

You can also add a little artistic licence to the photo such as this example from the Cotswold Candle Co. campaign:

Positioning the products near some decorative plants and in the light of the beautiful window really added something to this photo.

Some don'ts.

- Don't upload a screenshot of a photo posted to social media.

- Don't upload a huge photo file with filters.

- Don't upload photos that are obscured or in bad lighting.

How to upload it to the Placer website.

1) Log into the Placer website and click 'Placements' on the navigation bar.

2) Select 'Add Photo' on the campaign you want to upload the proof of placement photo for.

3) Upload your photo and submit.

Done!

Posting on Social.

Brands love to see their campaigns being amplified on social media and the preferred channel is usually Instagram. Sometimes posting on Instagram is required for the campaign but it is normally a good idea to upload your photo and tag @placer_it and the brand.

You can use either the proof of placement photo you have taken or take a new photo especially for social without the QR code as it may confuse your social audience!

Below is a great example of utilising the same set up but slightly tweaked for Instagram again from the Cotswold Candle Co. campaign:

So there you have it, the complete guide to uploading proof of placement photos on Placer. Of course if you run into any issues you can always contact Host support.

Happy Placing!
