What Is A Placement Campaign?

Placer is a site where short stay hosts can get free and discounted products from all manner of brands: large, growing, international and local.

Brands want to reach guests in beautiful environments and so are willing to discount their products or even provide them for free. 

So how does this work on Placer?

Offers are where a brand offers a discount to hosts on their products, usually through a code obtained through the Placer website. Discounts range from 15% - 40% currently but more brands will be adding more discounts in the coming months that may be even more significant.

Placement campaigns are where products are usually offered for free or at an even deeper discount than offers. Placement campaigns usually (but not always) involve the placement of a QR code alongside the product and the products will appear on the hosts welcome page.

For some placement campaigns hosts can earn commission when a guest purchases through their QR or welcome page. This is usually a % of the total value of the purchase from 5% - 15%.

Hosts apply for a placement campaign when they are posted on the Placer website. Brands then select the hosts they want to work with from those who have applied.

Products are either purchased with a code that makes the products free on the brands websites, or sent directly to the hosts. All that is required from the hosts is to place the products as per the brands instructions, and take a photo of the product placed in the listing to demonstrate to the brand.

Placer requests hosts post their photos to Instagram to add value for brands and increase the desire for them to provide more free products to the Placer host community.

Hosts can get a significant amount of free product for their listings from product placement campaigns. For example Royal Doulton have a placement campaign for £300 worth of products from their contemporary Olio and Coffee Studio ranges.

Hosts can earn 5% commission on any sales to guests, although Instagram posting is required for this campaign.
