How To Position Your QR Codes
So you have been selected for a placement campaign with a brand on Placer...
Congratulations, you will be getting free or heavily discounted products to share with your guests and improve their experience, leading to better guest experiences and reviews. Some campaigns also offer the chance to earn a commission on any purchases your guests make of the placed products. For you to earn this commission the purchase has to be made through the QR code provided as part of the campaign or via your welcome page.
In addition the more guest QR scans achieved on a campaign the better as brands are more likely to run more campaigns if they see good interaction, meaning more free product and commissions for the Placer host community.
So how best to position your QRs?
First, make sure you place the QR's ... all of them. If you are on more than one campaign you should still place the QR code for each of them. Brands can see how many scans there have been of each QR code in every listing, and so may omit you from future campaigns if you do not get many scans.
Placer are working on a one QR code solution for hosts on multiple campaigns but for now it is best to place all QR codes for your campaigns. If you feel like you have too many QR's you could not apply for more campaigns until your current ones are finished.
Second, make sure to position them near to the product that is being placed, preferably in a contextually relevant environment. If guests can see the QR code while using the product they are more likely to scan and try to find out more about the product. For example in our recent Carte Noire coffee campaign hosts positioned the QRs in the kitchen next to the kettle with the product in the same area as below:
Third, make sure the QR is positioned in a well lit area. Sometimes QRs can be temperamental in poorly lit areas and it is best to position them near a window or light source for better scan performance. Some formats are more temperamental than others and the wooden easel, while more aesthetically pleasing and durable, can be difficult to scan for guests if in a dark area.
Finally, make sure the QRs are not hidden away or obscured from view. This may seem obvious, but guests will not be able to scan something they can not see! So while it is good to have the product and QR in a contextually relevant position it can be better to position them in areas where guests spend more time if relevant.
Happy Placing!
