How To Take Your Listing To The Next Level



As a host yourself it is always good to consider things from the guests point of view. Remember the details of last time you stayed in someone else's listing?

Well, when was the last time you stayed somewhere and were amazed by the experience? Can you remember why this was? 

Normally it is a combination of things that come together to really create that amazing experience. For example the quality of the interior design, the friendliness person checking you in, combined with those welcome drinks and that hot tub that exceed your expectations.

This said, there is one thing that every incredible short stay experience has in common and that is the quality (& quantity) of the amenities. 

These touches are often forgotten by hosts yet they are almost always appreciated by guests during their stay. 

While it is nice that guests appreciate it, there needs to be some give back or it is not worth doing, right? Well first of all your reviews will improve, but interestingly a study by Airbnb themselves found that just by offering a hairdryer in your listing can increase your nightly fee!

Providing simple amenities may seem like a given, but you could be shocked as to how many hosts forget to have them ready for guests, or include them on the listing profile or website. How are guests going to know that you have the amenities they need for their stay if they are not mentioned? 

Always remember to do these things or your guests and booking rates could suffer.

Here are some ideas to leverage amenities to give your guests the best experience:

1) A welcome pack always helps make a good first impression, you should include alcohol if appropriate! Why not go the whole way and provide breakfast and snacking options so your guests do not have to venture to the shops.

2) How about making sure your accommodation has the latest technology and media capabilities? A widescreen TV and latest music system could really improve guest experience. 

3) If you want to give your guests a more relaxing experience, you can provide some scented candles (watch the fire risk), reed diffusers and extra-special bedroom products such as pillow mist to really help your guests unwind and get some rest.

What Is A Placement Campaign?

Placer is a site where short stay hosts can get free and discounted products from all manner of brands: large, growing, international and local. Brands want to reach guests in beautiful environments and so are willing to discount their products or even provide them for free.  So how does this work on Placer? Offers are where a brand offers a discount to hosts on their products, usually through a code obtained through the Placer website.
